Stryker Microsoft Breach Wipes Tens of thousands

The recent Stryker Microsoft breach led to tens of thousands of device erasures within the medical technology company’s network. Hackers exploited Stryker’s Microsoft environment, wiping data from nearly 80,000 employee devices without deploying malware. Despite the significant impact, medical devices remained unaffected and operational. Customers, however, faced disruptions as electronic ordering systems went offline, necessitating manual order placements through sales reps.

Pro-Palestinian hacktivist group Handala claimed responsibility, asserting they erased over 200,000 systems and extracted 50TB of data. They threatened it was just the beginning of intensified cyber warfare. Handala is reportedly a front for Iran-linked Void Manticore. Stryker, a major medical tech company with $22.6 billion in 2024 sales, reaffirmed its product integrity and safety. The breach was contained within its corporate Microsoft environment.
