Palo Alto Networks Patches Firewall DoS Flaw
Palo Alto Networks patches a firewall bug that attackers could exploit to disrupt GlobalProtect gateways, according to a recent advisory. The flaw, identified as CVE-2026-0227, affects PAN-OS, the company’s operating system used in its firewall appliances. It allows unauthenticated users to launch denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, potentially rendering network infrastructure inaccessible.
The vulnerability stems from how GlobalProtect handles certain incoming requests, giving threat actors an opening to crash or overwhelm target systems. If exploited, it could cause considerable downtime and service interruptions for affected organizations. No authentication is required for exploitation, increasing the urgency of mitigation.
Palo Alto Networks addressed the issue with a security patch now available for impacted PAN-OS versions. Users are urged to apply the fix immediately to avoid disruption. This marks the second time in recent months that Palo Alto Networks patches firewall vulnerabilities tied to GlobalProtect operations.
