Kering Breach Exposes Millions of Luxury Shopper Records

Hackers breached systems at French luxury group Kering, stealing sensitive data from customers of Gucci, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen. The Kering breach exposes millions of clients, with attackers exfiltrating names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses and purchase histories. Kering confirmed the incident and alerted data protection authorities, though it declined to specify the number of individuals affected.

BBC reports revealed that some victims spent as much as $86,000 at the brands, raising fears they could become targets for future scams. The Kering breach exposes millions of high-value customers, but the company emphasized that no financial or government-issued identification data was compromised.

Cybercriminal group Shiny Hunters claimed responsibility for the attack. The hackers reportedly accessed Kering’s systems in April and attempted ransom negotiations, which the company rejected. In June, Kering detected unauthorized access and took steps to secure its network. Shiny Hunters shared a sample of the stolen data with the BBC, which verified its authenticity.
