Ingram Micro Hit as Safepay Threatens Data Leak
The SafePay ransomware group has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack that compromised systems at global IT distributor Ingram Micro, threatening to leak 3.5 terabytes of stolen data. According to the threat actors, the breach occurred earlier this month, and the stolen files allegedly include internal documents, client records, and business communications. Ingram Micro hit SafePay’s radar as part of what appears to be a targeted campaign against large technology service providers.
The cybercriminals have not specified their ransom demands or a timeline for releasing the data, but they posted sample files online to support their claims. If verified, the breach could expose sensitive information across Ingram Micro’s extensive partner network. Ingram Micro hit SafePay’s leak site after attackers claimed they had full access to the company’s infrastructure. The company has not yet confirmed the incident publicly or disclosed the scope of the compromise.
