Google Pays $8.25 Million in Kids’ Privacy Suit

Google will pay $8.25 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that accuses the tech giant of unlawfully collecting data from devices used by children under 13 years of age. The complaint alleges that the company and its platforms, including YouTube, gathered personal data without proper parental consent, violating federal and state privacy laws designed to protect minors.

The settlement resolves claims that Google engaged in systematic data collection practices targeting children, despite legal restrictions that limit tracking of underage users. Although the company denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to the multimillion-dollar payment to avoid prolonged litigation.
