FBI Traced IntelBroker via Email, Crypto, YouTube Trail
U.S. authorities successfully tracked down the hacker known as IntelBroker by piecing together digital breadcrumbs that included an email address, cryptocurrency transactions, and YouTube activity. The FBI traced IntelBroker by analyzing a Gmail account linked to multiple online aliases, which helped agents uncover connections to cryptocurrency wallets and forum posts associated with high-profile data breaches.
Investigators also scrutinized blockchain records and found transactions pointing to accounts used in illicit marketplace dealings. A key breakthrough came when agents identified a YouTube channel that shared tutorials on hacking tools and techniques. The FBI traced IntelBroker in part by linking this content to the same email and wallet information found in earlier stages of the investigation.
