Endesa Says Hackers Accessed Customer Contracts

Spanish utility provider Endesa says hackers accessed data from its systems in a recent security breach impacting both the main company and its regulated retailer, Energía XXI. The attack exposed contract-related information that includes customers’ personal details, according to notices the company is now sending to affected individuals.

Endesa has not disclosed how many customers were affected by the breach or the method used by attackers to infiltrate its network. The company says its cybersecurity team responded swiftly and is cooperating with law enforcement. Operations have continued without interruption, and Endesa has implemented additional safeguards to prevent further incidents.

Energía XXI, a subsidiary that supplies regulated electricity in Spain, is also part of the ongoing investigation. Officials have urged customers to remain alert for any suspicious activity involving their personal data.

Endesa says hackers accessed data as the company works to reinforce system defenses and notify all impacted users.
