EDRi Urges EU to Enforce AI Act, Resist Rule Rollback
European Digital Rights (EDRi) is urging the European Commission to prioritize enforcement of the AI Act rather than diluting existing regulations under the guise of simplification. In an open letter, the digital rights group called on EU leaders to defend the integrity of the AI rulebook and ensure its proper implementation. EDRi urges the EU to stay focused on delivering protections promised by the legislation rather than reopening debates that could weaken its foundations.
The group warned that reopening the legislative process could create uncertainty, delay enforcement, and expose citizens to unchecked AI risks. EDRi urges the EU once again to concentrate on building strong enforcement mechanisms and ensuring that member states apply the law consistently. The letter emphasized that robust oversight, not regulatory rollback, will safeguard fundamental rights in the digital age.
