Conpet Reports Cyberattack Operations Unaffected

Romania’s state-controlled oil pipeline operator confirmed that Conpet reports a cyberattack that disrupted its business IT systems and temporarily took down its website. The incident, discovered on February 3, 2026, did not affect operational technologies including SCADA and telecommunications systems, according to a company statement. Oil and fuel transport services remain fully functional, with no delays or safety concerns.

Internal teams quickly activated mitigation protocols and began working with national cybersecurity agencies. Conpet also filed a criminal complaint the same day with Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism. No technical details have been released, but ransomware group Qilin claimed responsibility, posting 1TB of allegedly stolen data on its leak site two days later.

Qilin has been increasingly active, recently forming an alliance with DragonForce and LockBit to boost attack capabilities. Romania’s energy sector has faced similar threats in recent months.
