CompTIA Launches SecOT+ to Bridge OT Cyber Gap

CompTIA has introduced a new cybersecurity certification, SecOT+, designed to bridge the skills gap between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) professionals. The initiative targets a growing need for cybersecurity expertise in industrial environments, where the convergence of IT and OT systems has introduced new vulnerabilities.

The SecOT+ certification aims to equip workers with the necessary skills to secure complex OT networks, which are increasingly targeted by cyber threats. By focusing on the unique challenges of industrial control systems and other OT infrastructure, the program intends to improve resilience across sectors reliant on connected operational technologies.

CompTIA’s move underscores the industry’s push to develop a workforce capable of navigating both traditional IT security protocols and the specialized requirements of OT environments. The certification is expected to support organizations in safeguarding critical systems, while also providing a pathway for IT professionals to expand into OT cybersecurity roles as demand continues to grow.
