These fake sites, referred to as Baiting News Sites (BNS), publish fabricated stories featuring public figures, financial institutions, and central banks. The goal is to build false credibility and trick users into transferring money under the pretense of investing. CTM360’s report highlights the scale and sophistication of this digital fraud network.
The operation, detailed in the BaitTrap Uncovers 17000 Fake report, marks one of the most extensive campaigns of its kind, showcasing how cybercriminals continue to exploit trust in media brands.
